Happy Chennai (Madras) Day

Today chennai is celebrating its Chennai Day. It was on this day in 1639 that a three-mile strip of land along the beach was given to the East India Company from where Chennai was to evolve. February 20, 1640, also became significant as it marks the first settlement of the British in that piece of land where Fort St. George, which houses the Secretariat, today stands. here are some old photo of chennai:
